How do I lower my interest rates on my credit cards since I have high balances & I want to pay t

Just call them, tell them that you are getting balance transfer offers with much lower rates if you open a new account. Tell them you don%26#039;t want to change companies but will have to if they can%26#039;t offer you a better rate. Every time I have ever asked they came up with something. I noticed one card jumped from 9 to 20 so i called and i ended up with 7.9 fixed forever. There%26#039;s better offers for shorter terms but opening new accounts is a recipe for disaster.

If you can be approved for one, there are plenty of credit cards out there that give you 0% on balance transfers for one year. Sometimes cards will offer a low rate (2-3%) on balance transfers until the balance is paid off. That would be your best bet if it will take you a while. If you don%26#039;t want to open a new account you can always call customer service for your current cards and ask them to lower your rate. However, they usually won%26#039;t lower it past 5-7%.
